Frequently Asked Questions

Independent childbirth classes give you the chance to ask any questions, learn more about pregnancy and birth and listen to unbiased information about your birth options. It’s a confusing time with lots of choices to make and it’s vital that you and your family get the support you need. Hope & Honey offer independent, unbiased advice with a natural edge, as we believe birth is a normal life event not a medical issue. It doesn’t matter where or how you plan to birth, everyone can benefit from a holistic approach to birthing and being informed and supported.
Many people choose independent childbirth education as it provides general advice and support, without the restrictions of institutional policies and procedures. Some hospital classes emphasise their practices and rules, rather than teaching you to be informed and confident in your personal choices. Hope & Honey’s classes have the added advantage of being taught by a certified HypnoBirthing® Practitioner and professional coach. This provides you with additional knowledge, confidence and a more natural and personal approach.
You are encouraged to bring your partner / birth companion and any other significant support person (maximum of 3 people in total). If you wish to attend with more than two birth companions, please contact me to discuss.
You can take the classes at any time in your pregnancy. Some people recommend attending between 20-35 weeks however you can book in at anytime in your pregnancy.
Absolutely! Antenatal education is not just for first-time mums – it can be really great to refresh your memory with the basic information and build upon any knowledge you gained from your previous birth experience. If you weren’t happy with your previous birth experience, it can be good to talk through the birth experience and learn strategies of how to avoid situations you may have faced last time.
The 2.5 hour personalised class costs $250 and is delivered in your home. Your class fee also includes a comprehensive information booklet, a follow up-email packed with links and further reading as well as ongoing support throughout your pregnancy and early parenthood.
